Bouquet, 1999
Born and raised in Southern California, Gregory was awarded a scholarship at a very young age to attend art classes at the Pasadena Art Museum. He continued to study on his own, experimenting with the different styles and art forms that we see in his works today. A product of the radical '60s, Gregory's approach to art has always been internally motivated, resulting in his unique perspective of the lifestyles and social issues of that era.
Gregory obtained a degree in behavioral sceince from Cal Poly Pomona and graduate studies at LaVerne University near Claremont. He began work in the Law Enforcement Educational Program (LEEP). He also worked at a psychiatric hospital before joining the California Youth Authority, where he worked for twenty years as a counselor for delinquent and troubled youth. In the 1970s he moved to Northern California where he taught art to Berkeley inner-city youth.
Gregory retired to the Watsonville area in Northern California with his wife Sue. In addition to his love of painting, he enjoys pursuing his many hobbies that include woodworking and horseback riding along the beaches near his home.
Gregory's first exhibit was an overwhelming success at Becton-Dickinson in San Jose, California.
